THE REALITY OF POVERTY

With these sobering statistics, we exist to make sure that clothing is the least of our community members worries.

OUR VISION

We exist to make sure that every male in Wilmington (and the surrounding community) owns a shirt, tie, blazer, slacks, socks, and a sturdy pair of shoes.  My father always taught me to dress for the job you want, not just the job you have.

There are many in our community that were raised by a single mother. There are many in our community that were raised in poverty. There are many in our community that never learned how to tie a tie, or ever owned a suit, and when the opportunity comes for upward mobility they are prepared in head and heart, but don’t have the wardrobe to help with the first impression. The uniform of a shirt and tie can be worn on many occasions:

  • Business Meetings

  • Formal Events

  • Job Interviews

  • Legal Proceedings

  • Religious Services

  • Weddings/Celebrations of Life

Through our “Dress for Success” initiative we want to make sure the clothing barriers to success are removed. In our first year we have set a goal of providing 1,000-1,500 men/young men, including returning citizens from prison with the uniform of a shirt/tie/slacks/shoes. We also look forward to partnering with job training and reentry programs in Wilmington and New Castle County.
